Empty-looking points may hide an opponent's stone.
You get up to 3 attempts per turn. All illegal moves look identical — the game never tells you why.
3 illegal attempts auto-skip your turn (counts as a pass).
Two consecutive passes end the game; Chinese area scoring decides.
